US - Return Reason Code

The following table includes the reason codes that the Returns team uses to document their findings on returned items. The codes are three digits, ranging from 100 to 910. Each product category has its own set of reason codes. This helps the Returns team with tracking and reporting.

Customer Service must know how to locate the reason code in the internal note and understand the definition of the reason in the table below, so that you can provide the Consultant with the findings from the Returns team

The Returns team will write the item code and reason code in the following format:

[Item number] [Piece part number, if applicable] [3-digit reason code]

Examples:

  • Item number and reason code only: 4575 101
    • According to code 101 this item is leaking. This is a defect. 
  • Item number, piece number, and reason code: 4571 02 104
    • According to code 104 the item and/or its components do not work. This is a defect.
